Privacy Policy — UV Alert

This Privacy Policy explains how Welton Ventures Technologies Pte. Ltd. (“Welton Ventures”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in Singapore, handles information in connection with the UV Alert mobile application (“the App”). UV Alert is a free, ad-supported app that shows the UV index and sun-safety guidance for your location, and it is designed to collect as little personal information as possible. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we handle

a) Location
When you use the App, we use your device’s location (precise, if you allow it) to look up the UV index and sun-safety times for where you are. Your coordinates are sent to our service and to our UV data provider (currentuvindex.com) only to return that information. We do not use your location to identify you, and we do not build a profile of your movements.

If you prefer, you can add and use saved places by name instead of your live location. You can deny or revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings; the App still works using a saved place, but current-location features will be limited.

b) Information stored only on your device
The following are stored locally on your device and are not sent to us: your skin-type selection, notification/alert settings, saved locations, language and theme choices, sunscreen-reapply timer state, onboarding status, and a cached copy of recent UV data. This information is removed when you uninstall the App.

c) Advertising and analytics information
The App is supported by ads and uses third-party services that may collect information such as: your advertising identifier (Apple’s IDFA / Android Advertising ID), app usage and interaction data, approximate/coarse location (e.g. derived from your IP address), device information (model, operating system, language), and crash and performance diagnostics. This is collected and processed by the third parties listed in Section 3, in accordance with their own privacy policies.

d) Notifications
Sunscreen-reapply and high-UV alerts are scheduled locally on your device. Delivering them does not require sending your data to us.

e) No account, no direct identifiers
The App does not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.

2. How we use information

• To show the UV index, forecast, and sun-safety guidance for your location.
• To provide app features you choose (saved places, personalised burn-time from your skin type, reminders).
• To display advertising, including — with your permission — personalised advertising.
• To measure app performance and diagnose crashes so we can improve the App.
• To comply with legal obligations.

3. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:

• Google – Google AdMob / Google Ad Manager (advertising), Google Analytics for Firebase (analytics), and Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting). https://policies.google.com/privacy

• Pangle (ByteDance) – advertising mediation. https://www.pangleglobal.com/privacy
• currentuvindex.com – UV-index data provider (receives your coordinates to return UV data). https://currentuvindex.com
• Cloudflare – hosting/processing of our backend service that relays your UV request. https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

These providers may act as independent controllers of the data they collect. We encourage you to review their policies.

4. Your choices and controls

• App Tracking Transparency (iOS): Before any tracking for personalised ads, the App asks for your permission. You can allow or deny it, and change your choice any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
• Advertising ID (Android): You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation, in your device settings.
• EU/UK users: Where required, we show a consent request (Google’s UMP) for the use of your data for advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Non-personalised ads: If you decline tracking/consent, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised.
• Location & notifications: You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.

5. Legal bases (EEA/UK – GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: your consent (for personalised advertising and, where applicable, analytics); legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the App and to show non-personalised ads); and performance of a service (to deliver the UV information you request).

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. This includes rights under the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — including the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising — and the Personal Data Protection Acts (PDPA) of Singapore and Thailand. To exercise any right, contact us at the address in Section 10. Because much of the App’s data is stored only on your device, you can also exercise many of these choices directly by adjusting device permissions or uninstalling the App.

7. Data retention

Information stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the App. Requests to fetch UV data are transient and are not used to build a personal profile. Advertising and analytics providers retain data according to their own policies and your consent choices.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections for network requests. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International transfers and children

• International transfers: As a Singapore-based company serving users worldwide, your information may be processed in countries other than your own (for example, Singapore or the United States), which may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we and our providers use appropriate safeguards.
• Children: UV Alert is not directed to children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected in the App or on this page. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
